My cheapass newspaper, part of the Gannett enpire, dropped this in favor of garbage. It’s great to be able to see it daily on my pc as I think this is one of the top 5 all-time cartoon strips. This one reminds me of me at a young age, except I had to “purloin” the only flashlight in the house. A giveaway, especially when the battery wore down so quickly.
On the nail Gweedo, just as the secretary thread was “updated” from lovely blonde Cheryl Ladd (original–perhaps Lynn should have used Carole Laure or Karen Kain, though I didn’t think of these at the time) to scratchy-voice brunette Shania Twain (lovely, golden-voiced, auburn-tressed Lisa Brokop would have been much nicer).
If we go back about 43 years this is my brother Bobby only he’s not texting on some doohickey like this, he’s in the bathroom using the nightlight to read his comic books. No wonder he had such bad eyes trying to read with so little light.
There were no flashlights for me to use. I took apart some game with small bulb and battery and created a hand held together light to read by. When the battery died I went back to reading by the light of the street light down the street.
No wonder I needed glasses by the time I was in 7th grade. I read every book I could get my hands on.
I love that Lynn’s not so stuffy that she can’t make subtle changes to keep up on her reruns. It makes it more interesting to try totell what the changes are, kinda’ like a game.
I wish there was a way to compare the originals to these. But I think there were handhelds, just with the red LED’s no graphics (except what was drawn on the screen).

Parents have been there and one that. They can always tell what’s up, down, on or off.

It looks like a DS 1. New comic. The old hand held games were large!

Most Dads would have taken the game out of the room with him. Problem solved.
A book to read is way better, anyways.

Reading in bed is much more conductive to going to sleep - especially if it is a boring book.

some handheld games have adapters with a snake light so you don’t have so much light showing through the covers

My guess for what he’s playing would be Caleco football.

It was DonkeyKong for my kids. For me, i would be reading Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, or the Bobbsey Twins.

reading under the covers does not weaken your eyes!! it makes them tired, but it doesn’t change your vision - if it did i’d be blind!!!

Children don’t read in bed anymore! Of course they updated it.
