I agree Susan! My husband always helped on the days I worked; he even ran the morning daycare run the first year as he left later in the morning than i did.
For those who say Elly’s never happy, here she is! And yes, a “good tired”, she feels like she’s done a lot. And she has. I’m taking this to mean that the ambiguous panels of last week when we aren’t sure if Elly was enjoying work or not, she was.
Agreed, summerdog. If she kept this up, in 5 years there would be nothing but complaints. Unless John actually helped out at least a little bit here and there (maybe).
dstufff, what is it about Johns flabby belly you actually like? It doesn’t show it here, but how many times have we seen Elly’s big butt? Both men and women are getting bigger bellys and butts today then ever.
“Help, schmelp”! Housework is a fulltime job! The way I see it, right now John and Elly each have a fulltime job, plus, Elly has a second fulltime job. Housework does not belong 100% to the woman unless the couple has explicitly negotiated it so.
But in most places on this planet, people don’t think it thru, and it’s still seen as one fulltime job for the man, two for the woman. And if the man participates in housework, that’s called “helping” the woman with “her” job. As if he’s doing her a favour.
Lots of issues here. From flab to housework. I’m a father, grandfather and great grandfather and I venture to say I’ve done “almost” half the household chores for the last 48 years. The reason I’m content and happy to do it? Because I usually find my old woman in the same position as Elly in the last frame at the end of the day (sans gown!).
At least since my hubby is a student and i work, he does most of the cooking and most of the cleaning. The most housework that i do is laundry (or at least folding it), sometimes doing the dishes, and maybe some easy to do cooking. He is so sweet about it!

Sounds rough, but she does get out of the house.

That’s what’s called “a good tired”.

I agree John ought to be helping. He should help even if she’s not working outside the home since she works longer hours.

I like John’s flabby gut in the 1st panel. It’s what most husbands really look like!

Elly’s first day might be “wonderful”, but lets see how she would feel after a few years of doing it all.

Elly is as tired as though she had been on vacation. After 2 weeks of that she’ll be glad to be back from her “wonderful” vacation so she can rest up.

“Wonderful” for now, Elly. Stick with the korporate environment for a while and your assessment of it will most likely be anything but “wonderful”.

Elly, AMEN! LOLs!

Seems to me if Elly is helping John at the clinic, he should be helping her at home!
