Well now that you mention it, “Christian” nations practiced slavery and have been continually at war. It was a “Christian” nation that dropped the A bomb, invaded two Muslim nations without provocation and drops smart bombs that kill innocent people at weddings. Death is death Scott no matter how righteous your intentions are. Also read the old testament of your bible and you will see many stories of rape, incest, slavery and outright murder. Let’s not play the my religion is better than your religion game as we all have blood on our hands.
@ Scott So the Crusades don’t count? How bout them witch trials? Or the excommunication of the dark ages?
No matter which religion you side with, each one has blood on its hands. Hell, the bible said that a christian betrayed Jesus! Cue Scott or some other religious lunatic saying it was a (insert group here). Its okay to push your religious agenda on us but its not okay for someone else to do it on you. Hypocrites!
@ Gary Kleppe: Our chief weapon is…Surprise! Surprise and fear! Our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency! …our three weapons are…

Pardon me interrupting serious religious discussion, just thought I slip in 2 pieces of bragging in. I have visited the (supposed) birth places of both Zeus AND Jesus!
Ha!
Ahem, anyway, moving along…
According to CBO stats, the Dem plan would insure about 96%. The GOP plan to the best of what I could understand so far, would extend coverage compared to today - but factoring in the likely population increase, there will be more (and a higher percentage of ) uninsured than today.
IF it can actually bring down insurance rates, there may be something worth salvaging there. However, the fundamental idea behind it - that, effectively, everything is fine with the position of the insurance providers - is simply wrong. In the some 15 years since the last time healthcare reform was attempted, premiums have grown, to put it mildly, considerably.
Bah, Carrottop is indeed difficult to …top! I’ve been out-one-upmanshipped.
But wellllll, I was thinking of visiting the birth places of other deities or prophets…
Lumbini, Nepal is a birthplace of Lord Buddha
Teotihuacan, Mexico - birthplace of the Aztec gods
Abu Kobeis, Saudi Arabia - birthplace of Muhammad
Godly tourism!
(by coincidence, my surname is a corruption of an ancient Spanish word which might have meant a pilgrim who has been to a certain place. I haven’t been there. :p Yet. )
The Dems won’t tell the fellow to walk it off now. Their plan would take months before the doc would even see him. By then they would not even remember what is wrong. THEN they might tell him to walk it off.
I’ve seen Freud’s London home - missed it in Vienna last time I was there. But I used to carry around a pre-Euro Austrian bill (I think it was a 50-whatever) with Freud’s picture on it. Ironic, since the Nazi sympathizers threw him out…
Already cutting some insurance by not paying for Rx, perscriptions. I dont like where that Health insurance reform is headed. I dont quite understand how come its called Health care reform instead of Health insurance reform though. Sounds as though its a broad view, room for addons. It isnt telling what kind of procedures patients can get is it? I hope not. I dont like the broad idea.
Scotty are you serious about the Quran being like a comic book but the Christian bible isn’t? Wow, stories about talking snakes, burning AND talking bushes, people in bellies of whales, big boats with all animals of the world on it and that’s not comic book material? Ha!
What I find difficult to comprehend about our «scottfreitas» is why, assuming that he himself believes his own characterisations of Islam as brutal, bloody, and warlike, on the one hand, and Christianity as kindly, loving, and pacifistic, on the other, he hasn”t long ago converted from the latter to the former. Given his postings on this forum, it would seem that (his version of) Islam would suit his personality and needs far better than (his version of) Christianity. And Islam is at least as anti-abortion and homophobe as Christianity is….

Obviously, all religions are evil as soon as the followers think in “us and them” terms.
Motivemagus over 14 years ago
scott, apart from what everyone else posted, you *do* realize that Islam accepts the Old Testament as scripture and Jesus as a prophet, don’t you?
riley05 over 14 years ago
So the Democrat plan insures everyone; the Republican plan leaves around 30 million uninsured.
That makes the cartoon spot-on, and if Scott wants “dishonesty”, he can go look in a mirror.

I’m not sure the Democrat plan will cover everyone, and it sure won’t be perfect. The thing is, the GOP ideas are even more pathetic.

Yes, walk it off, or die quickly to ensure high profits for a few already too rich mucky-wucks.

Allowing big insurers to continue denying coverage to those with any pre-existing conditions is not reform, by any definition of the word.
What the GOP offered last weekend was pure PIMA.
(Protect Insurance Monopolies and Abuses)

My only real pilgrimage, if one can call it that, has been a regular visit to Père-Lachaise in Paris. Always pop in to see Jim whenever I’m in Paris.
Just looked up Freud’s London home. Finchley. Hmmm, I think I know where to suggest next for a cuppa tea.
