As it happens, there is actually a place called the Guano Islands, except they’re actually made of guano. In the days when it was created, guano was precious, as it was an excellent fertiliser. There was a huge feud over the feces between the two neighbouring countries, and the islands were their storage facility. I have no idea whether Jim had this in mind when he made this, or if it’s just a coincidence.
