Garfield by Jim Davis for April 01, 1997
Transcript:
Garfield: I can't stand the smell of this paint! Jon: Don't worry, the Bumsteads have invited us over to their house. Garfield: You mean we're moving to a different comic strip. Jon: Just until the paint dries. Dagwood: Even for April Fool's Day this is ridiculous!

Not in this case since the artists switched comics for the day. This was known as the Comic Strip Switcheroo. On April 1, 1997 several of the comic strips switched writers and artist as an April Fools joke such as this one. There were others though.
Dilbert switched with The Family Circus,
For Better or For Worse switched with Mother Goose and Grimm
Nancy switched with FoxTrot
Shoe switched with Beetle Bailey
Kevin Fagin didn’t switch with anyone for Drabble so he drew it with his left hand instead.
You get the idea.

And you’re here! This is a Garfield Easter egg that not a lot of people know about. It was part of something called Comic Switcharoo. It was an April fools thing where Blondie, and Garfield switch comics.

The infamous Comic Strip Switcheroo. Garfield actually appeared in Blondie(another comic and the creator took over this for April Fools as it said) a second time in 2005 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of that comic
