TN Chuck: OOH or keep one of those toy mice with catnip in them in a draw near your bed, chuck it near her when she first attacks and that should keep her busy for at least another hour!
Cats are nocturnal creatures. They love to run around and play in the middle of the night. Then they sleep all day and it can be annoying to watch that cat that woke you up last night sleeping so peacefully. Sometimes I’ve woken her up and said, see how do you like it?
Call it spoiling my cats, but they have their own room because they are nocturnal. They go to ‘bed’ at night so the house and my sleep are not disturbed. It took a little while, but they now go routinely to their room at night and I shut the door when I go to bed.
My Siamese insists on playing fetch with a stuffed mouse toy. Her idea of “fetch” is for me to throw it, her to chase it and catch it, then drop it for me to come and pick it up and throw it again. So see, you CAN train a cat, as long as it’s exactly what the cat wants to do.
I’ve also trained her to follow me around the house yowling until I get “Mousy” out and start the game.
I’ve also trained her to jump down off the kitchen counter when I come in.
RayC hilarious! You trained your cat to jump off the kitchen counter when you come in? LOL And in the meantime, all that while beforehand, she was sitting on your counter!! My cat is the same way, she jumps down with a thump when she hears me coming! She’s so silly, the loud thump gives he away every time!!
Somehow, I think Garfield would rip Jon to shreds if he got to close!
And really, when they say “Play with your pets” they don’t mean it literally! I mean, I may play with my dog with a Tug-of-War toy, but I don’t use him for ring toss or a Volleyball net!
But I might if he was my Grandmothers cat Caramel! I move anywhere near it and it starts hissing! But really, how bad could 1 cat be? I do read Garfield, and all he does is eat, sleep, and kick Odie off the table, and my dog isn’t allowed on the table anyway! :)
Wildmustang: I think all cats like paper grocery bags, or anything they can climb into and play hide-and-seek. I wouldn’t encourage them to play with a plastic grocery bag, of course; although with sharp claws and teeth they could probably fight their way out of it. I wouldn’t want to test that theory.
A flashlight, Comicsnoob? Garfield’s 31-years-old! I bet he has hardly the time to relive his kittenhood. Better yet, what was Garfield’s kittenhood like before 1978?
my cat is a piece of work, he would rather a crumpled up piece of papper rather than an expensive toy, and he will only do it if he is rewarded with tuna fish or popeyes fryed chicken. if he know he wont get it, we just dont give it to him, he will turn his back on us and ignor us! we think hes related to Garfield somehow.

Maybe horseshoes would be better, Jon.

Or curling. At the moment, Garfield is big, round and flat enough, and he’s earned the use many times over.

Why not play with Odie, Jon.

TN Chuck: My cat was that way when I got her also (wouldn’t stop biting my feet while I tried to sleep) so I got her a kitten. Worked like a charm:)

Maybe Jon’s trying to get that lazy ol fat cat to show some life. Looks like Garfield was content to just lay there. What kind of fun is that?
Wildmustang1262 over 15 years ago
I had a Siamese/Pursian/mixed breeds cat for 13 years. I named him Gypsy. He loves playing in the grocery bag crazily.

Garfield, I think you’ll show him less love, more bonding.
