When I first saw Overboard, there were characters like Boof, Seahawk and the Crow’s Nest guys…Charlie was a delightfully nasty little foil to Capt Henry Crow’s inadequacies. The antics of the crew were sophisticated, relatively, and funny. Now, it should be called Louieboard it seems. The talking and non talking dogs are just predictable and the situations not very clever or inventive. The mice and giant rabbits…ship ‘em off and bring back the old crew. The old Charlie Duffy would never have been so controlled as this one! I loved the old guys, please bring them back, and make it Overboard again!

… not been floating Brenzluv’s boat. I’d venture to say it’s been sinking in his estimation. He’s downright anchor-y about it.

Silly me. I thought the strip improved when Louie got more coverage and when Raymond came on board.

Hey, donkeymom, you need a donkey photo like mine.

It’s unlikely there are any donkeys quite like mine, no matter what end you’re looking at.

Oh c’mon, gang, does ANYONE remember the original days of the strip that I refer to? I just feel it was far better when it really was about the pirates, not dogs, rabbits and mice. Kinda more like the “Family Circus” of “pirate” strips now! Cheers!

Yes, and I also remember that over the years Dunham used up all the possible jokes until the strip became repetitious. So he quite wisely added new characters. It’s something strips have to do if they are going to go on as long as this one.
