“Breathe”! You “breathe” in or take a “breath”! Dammit I hate spelling mistakes in published work… who’s this guy’s editor??

Dogs spell better than cats, at least.

Seems a lot of people make that mistake. But I sure feel sorry for this dog’s master when he returns. Those teeth look fierce!

Uh, for the record: it’s not a mistake. I’m not even sure in what way you think it’s incorrect. In closing, Paul’s editor is doing fine work.

Comarama, it’s fixed now, but you mighta missed it. Before, Poncho’s last word bubble (or whatever it’s called) said, “Dude, I’m no zoologist, but I think you need to breath in to live.” The word “breath” lacked an “e” at the end. Looks fine now!

Look, Guys it is just a comic, I know the word is misspelled, but as an artist I can say that spell isn’t our strong suit, it is up there with math, yes the e on the end of breath bothers me to no end, but I can over look it because it is Poncho and I love Poncho.

Where exactly is the misspelling?
Flauta over 15 years ago
It was fixed.
leslynmoore over 15 years ago
where is the mistake here? Look again there is none!! the spelling is perfect (“breathe in air” or “take a breath”). Anyway, back to the strip. Poncho will soon find a way to calm this psychotic dog down. I’m sure.

OMG ! I just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what spelling was right or wrong they look the same to me, I am so confused. I read the comic to start my day off with a laugh…. and now I have a headache, oh my….

I just marvel that the dogs can talk. I can overlook any spelling errors.
BlueRaven over 15 years ago
I for one am glad it got fixed. The blurring between “breath” and “breathe” is right up there with the lose/loose confusion for me as a pet peeve. There’s language drift, and there’s plain sloppy usage that causes definitions to get confused on a basic read-through.

I don’t see any errors, but English is my second language.

This strip and yesterday’s are cool. I wonder if Paul is making a dig at another comic strip. I forget the title–saw it in the LA Weekly years ago (probably syndicated). It showed a dog tied up, straining at the leash and growling. That was it–panel after panel was identical. The dog was so angry, that’s all it could do! A little weird but appropriate for an “alternative” magazine like the LA Weekly.
On another note, doesn’t this dog look like Butt-Head’s buddy Beavis?

I believe you’re thinking of “The Angriest Dog in the World” by David Lynch who is more well known for his directorial efforts such as “Wild at Heart” and “Mullholland Drive.”
