Schroeder is at bat and Charlie Brown plays pitcher. Snoopy stands to one side of the plate and Schroeder says, "Can't you make Snoopy go 'way?"<BR><BR> Schroeder lowers his baseball bat and says, "I'm afraid he'll get hit with the ball." Snoopy sits down and wags his tail.<BR><BR> Snoopy begs. Charlie Brown says, 'Get away from here, Snoopy!"<BR><BR> Snoopy licks his lips and begs. Charlie Brown says, "Go on now! Get away! You'll get hurt!"<BR><BR> Schroeder walks away and says, "I can't bat with that crazy dog sitting there!" Violet is siting on the bench and asks, "What's he hanging around for, Charlie Brown?"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown says, "This is very embarrassing. I think he wants a bite." Violet says, "A bite?! A bite of what?"<BR><BR> He says, "Well... I couln't find a sponge for extra padding in my catcher's mitt..."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown holds up a piece of bread and says, "So, I've been using a slice of bread!"<BR><BR>

Another example of how Snoopy had yet to be established as CB’s dog, otherwise why would Violet ask why he’s “hanging around”?
