"No!" Charlie Brown declares. "Oh, come on, Charlie Brown.." Lucy pleasds. She kneels on the grass, propping up a football in her hands.<br> <br> "I'll hold it real steady..." she promises.<br> <br> "No!" He frowns.<br> <br> "Please?"<br> <br> Charlie Brown crosses his arms over his chest. He repeats: "No! You just want me to come running up to kick that ball so you can pull it away and see me kill myself!"<br> <br> Lucy stands up and faces Charlie Brown. She offers, "Look...Just to show you I'm sincere, I'll gve you a million dollars if I pul the ball away!"<br> <br> She throws up her arms: "In fact, I'll give you a HUNDRED million dollars!" Charlie Brown gazes at the reader thoughtfully.<br> <br> Charlie Brown walks away, remarking, "I must be out of my mind, but I can't resist kicking footballs.." Lucy settles down on the grass to prepare.<br> <br> He runs. <br> <br> "HA!" Lucy exclaims as she pulls the fotball away with a swoop. <br> <br> Charlie Brown flies up into the air... <br> <br> and lands flat on his back with a WHAM.<br> <br> <br> <br>Lucy leans over a prone Charlie Brown. "Here's your money, Charlie Brown!" she says, rubbing her hands together. <br> <br> Lucy walks off, laughing: "HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE" <br> <br> Charlie Brown remains on the ground. He says, "I think I'll just lie here until the first snow comes and covers me up..."<br> <br>

She should have let him kick it once in a while, it would have messed with his mind more. He knew she wasn’t going to let him kick it, he even said so in this strip, but, if she let him kick it once in a while, randomly, he wouldn’t be sure and would have been more excited to kick it, thus making it that much worse when she pulled it away.

This is only the second time that Lucy pulled the football away from Charlie Brown, and already he knows what’s going to happen, and already, he’s dumb enough to fall for it!
