There was an old MAD magazine feature that explored that possibility. An adult CB arrives home from his file-clerk job and Lucy, in time-honored Lucy fashion, scolds him over his lack of success compared to Schroeder, who she regrets not marrying and is now a famous concert pianist. “I’m sick of tired of hearing her talk about Schroeder,” he laments as he wearily goes upstairs. “Still, it could be worse. I have a steady job, my own home, and best of all, my own son, Charlie Brown, Jr. I think I’ll stop by his room and say hello.” Then we see CB Jr. sitting on the floor of his room, playing his toy piano, looking exactly like Schroeder. His dad looks upon him and thinks, “Is it possible? I wonder…”
