The US entered WW1 on April 4, 1917 and Snoopy imagines himself to be a US pilot. So this must be Christmas 1917. Sorry, Snoopy, but you won’t be able to send him a Christmas card next year, the Red Baron (the name was actually coined post-war in a British book) won’t survive that long. He died on April 21st, 1918, about two weeks before his 26th birthday. But Snoopy could do us all a favour and shoot down Hermann Göring, who became commander of the Flying Circus, after the man who took over after Richthofen died also died in a plane crash.
