Dude, Opal (at least in that respect) is totally my Mom - this subconscious, irrational belief that if you worry about something enough, you’ve punished yourself and fate will be kind by never letting it happen. (and I admit I find myself thinking that way too!) You know, old age, sickness, financial stability, problems with your family, the death of older friends/family - inevitable problems that will be encountered eventually. I guess if you can’t relate to that, you’re lucky.
