I have to object to the grammar in the above strip and the usage of the phrase “bless his heart”
Poor Brian, bless his heart, is from Idaho and grew up out west rather than down South where I’m from. We use the term differently our daily grammar and such - though in the same spirit as he did above. I guess I’ll forgive Brian since he didn’t have the privilege of being raised in The South, bless his poor little heart…
I’m with you Mac… HE should be cleaning it up… she might have to stand over him to make sure it’s done properly, but if he cleaned up after himself more often, he wouldn’t be making so many messes - DUH…
HELLO ! It’s a comic ! And, keep in mind, a BLESSING can be either a positive responce or a negative. In the case of the opal character it would seem to be both.
In real life, when dealing with senior citizens, that is to say, older people, sometimes memory deteriation gets in the way of civil actions. I know, I am a senior citizen and often I forget to do something my spouse asks me to do. I believe the character Earl has a deminishing abiltity to remember things that the rest of his fellow human beings have no trouble remembering.

Whether she blesses his heart or not she should have made him clean up the mess.

Totally true, in the South. “Well of course he’s a child molester and a serial killer…..bless his heart”.

I’m surprised the cat isn’t on the table cleaning it up. Maybe Opal won’t fee her cat or dog cereal. It’s not good enough for them.
There’s nothing wrong with the grammar, bless their litle pea-pickin’ hearts.

Why would people expect nice grammar from an angry Gramma?

You can say anything about anyone, as long as you add “bless his/her heart,” in the South at least!

Given all Earl’s oopsies lately, perhaps he needs to be checked out by a neurologist. He is getting to the age where the A-word is a valid concern…
