If people are disgusted about eating insects, why do they think it’s OK to eat crabs, shrimp and lobsters that belong to the same phyla as insects. Phyla Arthropoda all have outer skeletons segmented bodies and jointed legs.

Why is it that some people won’t eat pork but think it’s OK to eat sheep, cattle or deer that belong to the same phyla as pigs?

Not only are they all Phyla Chordata, but are all Class Mammalia, Order Artiodactyla.

The reason is cultural. If you were raised eating insects, they would be delicious to you. My wife loves eating whitefish because it was a treat in her household. I was never exposed to the dish and to me it’s an oily dead fish staring up at me from a platter.
