He played with Cannonball Adderley, and if you listen to Yusef Lateef’s early recordings, you get a taste of where Jphm Coltrane was going with Love Supreme. Autophysiopsychic Music, what he calls it, music from spiritual belief. It ain’t the Parliafunkadelictment thang, and it ain’t Sun Ra, but it certainly contributed to jazz on another astral plane.
