Talk about cartoon history being made…!!!

I’m following up on someone else’s tag and listing all these tributes under the tag “The TRIBE”. Add others elsewhere as you see fit. :)

Thom, I’m not a regular commenter on this comic (I’m cursed with commenting on the editorial cartoons much more), but I read it every day, and these tributes are fantastic! What a wonderful Tribe, too.

Thom thank you. Being sans clothes is like being in eden. What amazes me is you really caught what cleo and kaya looked like. Absolutely special. Thanks sir. And that is where I would like to think my two special dogs are.

    Hi Tribe,

Tried lighting my computer on fire to send a smoke signal earlier, but then I realized the smoke wasn’t getting out of the room… so you probably didn’t get my earlier message.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this week’s Tribal Toonage. You’re all such wonderful readers and such lovers of the comic, it seemed the least I could do to say thank you. Will do it again, but I will be going back into my zombie-like trance to create more of my usual stupid cartoons.

Thanks again to all of you for reading Birdbrains - at least somebody does (most birdbrains are illiterate, from what they’ve told me).

Thom Thom, Honorary Chief of the TRIBE :)

Thom thank you again. The Cleo and Kaya dogs really touched me. And…if we found your usual cartoons stupid, how would we have stuck around for more than one visit. I, unlike some of the Tribe (Doctor Toon) have only enough time for my very favorites and you have been on my list since I started reading here on gocomics and aside from my newspaper, this is the only online collection that I have time to read I for one am a birdbrain who is semi-literate.

Thom and Tribe, I hope I’m not too late today to have everyone in the Tribe see this post. Only fairly recently I’ve been able to follow such a wide variety of comic strips on GoComics, and one of the first things I did was look through all of the strips to find the ones that hit my funny bone in just one installment. I have eliminated a couple I originally tried. I found myself forwarding a few to my husband in part because of the comments (I love him, in part, because he groans in appreciation of my instinctive puns), and have gotten to add to the discussion of some. I have been struck by the names I keep bumping into. I think there could be a great research paper to be started on senses of humor by looking at who notices what in the comics. Anyway, I like to think I’m low woman on the totem pole of the Tribe since I bump into so many of you regularly. I hope you have gotten some enjoyment out of my submissions, as well. Sometimes I don’t get to say anything original because someone has beaten me to a great pun. I wish I had the time to see if anyone has responded to a post of mine, but I usually don’t. If I find out you have, I’ll make the time! That would be so neat. I’ve gone on long enough, so, well, I’ll see you in the virtual funny papers!

I have noticed your posts recently Ifanterickson. You will find for the most part that we at gocomics, with a few exceptions, are a diverse group that are quick to appreciate a good point made by another poster. I know that I have found, just by reading comments daily and posting, that you get to know a varied assortment of interesting people that you never would have met if it wasn’t for the talent and imagination of the cartoonists who present their works for enlightenment and amusement. I look forward to my morning, afternoon and evening visits at this home ( I was going to say away, but it is not) at home. I like beginning the day with someone who puts a smile on my face. My hat is off to all of the fine artists that make our lives just a little less worrisome, for lack of a better word.

To all of you good folk -

It is the cartoonists who appreciate YOU! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Without readers like you all, our cartoons are just doodles in the dark. It would be like if a cartoonist did a cartoon in a forest and nobody laughed kind of thing.

Ifanterickson - we notice more than you think. I read ALL the posts on my cartoon page - even the ones that say, “How stupid,” or “That’s not funny, ” or “Try something else - like the clarinet.” Even cartoonists can’t help but do something another cartoonist has done before - not because they are copying, but because the idea in itself is just funny to more than one person. Post away, kiddo. All your input is appreciated.

To the rest of the Tribe - this week has been as fun for me. We will do it again sometime. Thanks for riding the roller coaster with me - it makes my life a little more fun, too. I always say (well, often, not always), “It has to be fun before it can be funny.”

Thanks for reading Birdbrains all - even you silent, nonposting folks. I truly appreciate it. NOW GET BACK TO LAUGHING!!

    Thom
