Riley: See, Huey, check this out. Word gets out on the street that I'm getting these good grades, right? Then heads is like, "Yeah, that Riley kid - he's a nerd, he's a punk." Right? Things of that nature... So now heads is seeking me out, right? To see if I'm soft or not. Next thing you know, I'm beatin' fools down in the street, knamean? Bustin' shots everywhere like Pow! Pow!! Next thing you know I'm in jail, or dead! Huey: Okay, first of all, Riley. A "C" is not exactly a good grade. Riley: Hey! It was a "C'Plus"!!!

Interesting that in the black community, or at least some black communities, “punk” has come to mean a person who doesn’t cause trouble and generally keeps his nose clean. Where and when I grew up (a white guy in the 70’s) I understood it to mean the exact opposite, someone who actively looks for trouble.
