    The comment by the character, who seems to be African-American, that the “other pastures … aren’t necessarily greener” may be a subtle reference to a 1930s play (and later movie) by Marc Connelly called “The Green Pastures” in which scenes from the Old Testament are interpreted through African-American eyes.
