What’s wrong with repartee? Even in real life, it’s entertaining. In comic strip dialog, it’s the comical part. Some of you must just love watching those eHarmony ads!

How many women do you call “Angel Eyes” Earl? If you’re going to play the field you might at least come up with a different nickname for each of them.

Earl’s puttin’ the make on her and calls her a COW? Hope he plays the harmonica better than he does the ladies. There’s repartee, and then there’s stupid.

‘Angel Eyes’ is one of my favorite older jazz tunes. Somewhat obscure to the general music audience. Jim is a bluegrass fiddler so I’m impressed he referenced both those great tunes.

I enjoy Gasoline Alley enough to read it every day. If Jim removed all the elements that offend, annoy and/or bore some of you, it would be too BLAND to care about. And it wouldn’t be worth it to me to come back every day just to complain. Thankfully, Jim is at the controls, and that scenario is not going to happen!

Point is, he knows he’s got a nibble. How will he set the hook, hmmm?
