I think Bird is interesting, though not entirely admirable. Is he a successful character? Was it Oscar Wilde who said, “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about”? I’d say that applies to comic strips.
I have always found it amazing that Scancarelli can pack such detail into the shrunken areas that foolish editors have given the comics. A true artist. Wish I coulda done that back in the day. I’d probably still be published.
SidSnomann, what is sillier than the shrunken areas that foolish newspaper editors have given the comics is the small areas given for them on the web— where space is much more available and cheaper. I’d love to be able to click up a sharp and decent-sized version of GA to admire, but all I get is a blurry larger image!

How rude! But what a beautifully drawn scene. Jim is really cooking lately. Nice to reconnect with the old cast, too.

Bird, you practically invited Mr. Wallet to join you. You did say there were enough sandwiches for him, too.

Gertie does have a job to do Bird. If you want a date with her ask her when her off hours are.

Sounds like Bird needs a chaperon. And a car.
Nice veranda, great drawing.

Never heard of the Chaperon as a French sports car, but I believe Citroën makes one.

Time off for Gertie? Very little, probably. Home care workers work long, long hours.

What was he planning on doing that he can’t do with Uncle Walt there? You just lost some points Bird!

Perhaps you are thinking of the Citroen 2CV or “Deux Chevaux Vapeur”??

How long before the next storyline?

I’m very tired of this story. What are Gretchen and Rover up to? Does Rover still pick locks?

This “soap Opry” should end.
