I like the storyline, and I liked the previous one with Byrd and Gertie. I wish people would quit telling comics writers what to write. It’s their story, let them write it how they please. If you dislike it, delete it from your queue.
This has been one of the most interesting and entertaining story lines I have see in this strip.
But as soon as it is over, let’s go see Walt. In the past two weeks, England’s last two WWI veterans have died. There are only three left in the world now (four including Walt). We’re not going to have him forever.
I’d love to see Walt tell some tales of WWI! Maybe Gertie could invite Earl over, and Upton and Ramona (if they’re free), and they could all sit out on the porch and talk.
That would be fascinating. A story like that should probably be timed for November. Or next week, since WWI, for the Europeans anyway, started in August.
So when do they find the real Reverend Peacegood’s corpse by the highway, still sitting at the steering wheel of his car, eternally waiting for the tow-truck that never came?
I’d love to see Walt tell some tales of WWI! Indeed he better start telling his stories! According to Wikipedia there are only five living vets from WW! who are verified by their governments.
Crunkbot - Sorry man, didnt mean to blow a fuze on you. That was actually the edited version. I’m glad I chopped it down, you might have melted. It wasnt really directed AT you, you just made me think of something related. My step-mother always took a lot of flak from people for the way she dressed. Sort of like a Harper Valley PTA thing. Anyway, I might just be a little sensitive on the subject. No offense meant.

Norman, never delete us from your queue (had to look spelling for that one up, stupid English language). We’d miss you. You are the grist which grinds fine the conversations here.
Ha! Norman, the unintentional irony in your last two posts again confirms that you don’t even listen to yourself. See you tomorrow, as usual, though you will remain “bored to tears.”
Day late and dollar short…but my 2 cents worth is I am enjoying this storyline. It’s a good story. Byrd was a good story. Walt reminiscing about WWI has the potential to be a good story line. Walt is not much longer for this world. Neither are a majority of the old favorites. We need some new blood, and bringing in these ‘non Gasoline Alley’ storylines tests the characters and how they will fit. Some will, some won’t, but what an amazing journey it will be!

Looks like Ramona isn’t quite ready to repent.
She did get covered up though, ,clothes-wise.

They say confession is good for the soul, also for solving crimes.

Alls well that ends well

Is this nearing the end of the storyline? Can we return to the main GA characters?
prasrinivara over 15 years ago
Well Powerboy, there is a chance of that; if cops arrest Upton and Ramona, Upton can preach/witness to blockmates.
;)

I think this story is better than most. I especially like the name Upton O. Goode which is pretty clever.

jtpozenel, are you a long-time fan? You look so young!

jtpozenel, I agree. The names are almost like Charles Dickens’ characters. Very appropriate

Actually he’s in the congregation, having hitch-hiked and gotten there just in time for church.
