Actually no, I’m not humming it.

He should rename his group the Earl Lee Byrd Special!

One hit song can change one’s life! It would be appropriate if the man’s muse could share in his newfound success.

Why do they use TV cameras from the 60’s on Conan’s show?

Conan doesnt know what the word noteriety means. The clown would still be making bird jokes.

Don’t copyrights expire at some point, unless the author/composer or an heir refiles it?

With Gertie back in the story, there’s a chance Walt will appear some. I would like to see some of the other family members, too. Unfortunately, it often takes a funeral to bring all the family home. I never cared much for Joel and Rufus. They are sterotypes of the poor.

marvee - copyrights expire but people can buy and sell rights for ever and ever.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight song was written in the 1920’s or 30’s. The guy who wrote it sold the rights for squat. Disney somehow ended up with them and makes a ton of money every year off of it. Everyonce in awhile the family sues, trying to get something. They’re this African family, living in near poverty in some African country. Disney always tells them to piss off.

Two days ago, I suggested a storyline in which Nubbin Wallet would be depicted as gay.

Joe Allen Doty responded, “Oh, was the sexual orientation of Nubbin Wallet ever mentioned in this comic strip? Or, OldMountainMan, are you just basing your comments on homophobic stereotypes of gay people?”

In what way was I making a homophobic stereotype? I was just suggesting a new storyline, one that would be more relevant and interesting than Gertie and Bird, Rufus and Joel, or Upton and Ramona Lisa.

It would be great if Gasoline Alley broke new ground by admitting a family member is gay. That would be totally consistent with their depiction as a normal American family.

In 1993, Lynn Johnston had Lawrence Poirier come out in For Better or for Worse. Gasoline Alley should catch up to the times as well. If Scanarelli had Nubbin marry another man, or depicted a same-sex couple, what a great storyline!
