If you look back, it was pretty obvious that Gertie had decided that she wanted Bird after all, but he had already left town & she didn’t know how to find him - -

While I’d like to see more Walt, I think Gertie is a pretty good character for this strip.

Yes! Thank you! poor Gertie is being unfairly characterized.

That said, she’s assuming now that Bird still wants her.
