Okay, it’s cute and well-drawn for sure, but I sorta wish Jim wouldn’t stop his narratives for the sake of punchline gags that have nothing to do with the story.

Why the delay with the economy biz, lets get on with the storyline so we can return to regular GA characters.

The mannequins union is going to hear about this.

They want us to wait and wonder about what happens when she sees Earl.

That doesn’t look like any Walmart I’ve ever seen.

Hector Priam, the characters you mention all passed away long ago. Not all that surprising, considering Walt and Doc were definitely older than Walt and Pert was probably right around Walt’s age. Their deaths took place offstage. We saw Pert’s tombstone in Walt and Gertie’s misadventure in the cemetery a few years back. Walt is the last surviving member of the old Alley gang.

@Hector- The old characters like Doc, Avery and Pert were quietly retired a few years back, and are presumed to have died “offstage,” according to a Wall Street Journal article a few years back. It’s a dilemma Bill Perry set up 80+ years ago when he decided to have GA characters age in real time. The only character whose death was announced in the strip was Walt’s wife Phyllis. Walt himself is something north of 100, and you’ve got to wonder how Scancarelli is going to deal with that.

Nuts. I meant “AVERY and Doc,” of course. Avery and Doc, even in the very beginning, looked noticeably older than Walt.

Where *is* not Norman anyway, on vacation? This silence isn’t like him.

I used see Not Norman regularly over at Dick Tracy, but he seems to be absent everywhere,so you may be right doc (as usual. after all you are the doctor)

Ah, a deserted store except for the mannequins. Careful, Gertie! In the Twilight Zone, they may claim you as one of their own!

Clearly, the mannequins have lost their heads over the situation. I never thought I’d see toplessness in Gasoline Alley.

Good to see you’re still around Not Norman. As usual we disagree but I have the feeling Byrd is gonna break Gertie’s heart. Unlike you I won’t be happy to see it happen.
