Yes margueritem, Gertie is in big “doo doo”
But our Author is in just as big a “Boob Boobs”
As we all take a minute or two to look for the yellow rubber duckie, a.k.a. The “mammary”, (see green lamp shades -panel 2 and styalized in bear trap in 5) Now, is as good a time to point out that Locher changed his strip “signature” very dramatically in early 2006.
Look at his signatute closely, particularly how the “O” and the “C” embrace in L OC HER. Note that at the point of “embrace” the letters OPEN. This creverly with the shape of the letters create nipples and TWO mammarys facing each other. The net effect is that every time he “signs” a strip he leaves TWO memorial Mammarys in the strip. That is not only on Sunday but on every day of the week !
Talk about dedication to something. The changes occured on January 8th (Sunday) and 9th (daily) 2006.
Any date in “Dick Tracy” before then, reveals the major signature change.
Come on Jack, fall in the smokestack! You can do it! Just sorta glide over to it, that’s the way. Just like big sister Queenie. Dick can get his second hole in one then. Or at least impale yourself on something humorous, like that big column in panel four (should I count crime gobbers as a panel?).
Good lord, this is horrid. Crimestoppers doesn’t really make sense (for what? To prevent the phone from being stolen by BURGLERS? So you can make or recieve calls in the middle of the night, which a land line would do about as well?), and that’s just the start.
Jack’s line about ‘six feet of hole’ is absolute nonsense. Tracy’s flying leap is in an entirely different context, since Jack isn’t really incapacitated by his laughter here. More than enough trash anatomy to go around. The third ‘real’ panel, with its abstract-ish background and the possessed-looking man on the far left, looks like something out of my childhood nightmares, without the fear factor. The two henchmen also appear to be freaks from some B-horror movie.
Only one kind thing to say about the whole thing - Gertie in the penultimate panel looks more like an old woman than she has all story arc.

How does one get “trapped” by a trap that far up on their leg?

Big Red must have slipped down the ladder while Gert was watching the door. But she’ll butt slam him into oblivion

Neither one of the henchman has a neck.
The big red guy looks like he’s inflated.
I like how Gertie wears an outfit to match the money bags. THAT’S STYLE!

They call him the One Armed Bandit!
Either Gertie and the One Armed Bandit have no legs, or the money bags are floating in midair.

I don’t have a cell phone. Does a land line phone mean only half the security?

Meant to say this earlier; Gertie is the only one in this arc getting anything done! Go Gertie!
