Tess: Great, Bonnie Braids, but how did you afford the trip and why are you springing for the tickets?
Bonnie Braids: I found your credit card and bought a plane ticket and these circus tickets. I also bought some new clothes and a digital TV so I could get local channels.
Tess: Well, that explains all those charges we had a couple of months back. I’m glad we finally tied up that loose end.
A good circus does NOT abuse their animals. Training an animal to perform is not abuse - you train your dog don’t you? All circuses are subject to cruelty laws (just like the rest of us) and are regularly inspected everywhere they go. Besides, if they consistently abused their animals, eventually they would have no animals to perform.
sure, animals just LOVE to be chained up and confined in cages little bigger than themselves….loaded up in trucks and transported again and again….and then killed when they cant perform their tricks anymore
…and who are these circus inspectors?-
yes surely, someone in government is taking care of all this….not to worry!
and how many GOOD , humane circuses are there? as opposed to the many low budget circuses that set up in mall parking lots on weekends?
Max !
Locher should send you a cheque for pulling his Blooper out of the fire,
Sorry ! I was corrected the other day by Jeff and told it was a CLUE.
Problem is, I haven’t been able to figure out WHAT (?) it is a clue to, or for ? ?
In the meantime, it just shows us how gripping (or rather, DULL) the tale is when half the board goes off talking about “care” of animals
Bob the Barker
Killer Carny
Hairy Carrie the Bearded Lady
Joey “The Clown” Lombardo (Whoops, a real crook, recently convicted)
Namzorb the Magnificent (Had to throw that in)
Struwwelpeter2,
There is no Joe or Joseph in THIS Dick Tracy “world”.. Joseph Fintheart Tracy was a Max Collins 1979 creation (now with a copyright impediment), but there is still a brother. The name was morphed into “Cool Dude”.
Problem is, we haven’t seen Coon Dude for nine years now, since Christmas 2000 (Max Gorge story). Bonnie was seen previously in 2004.

Sydney Phillips:
I did NOT know that info about Joseph/Cool Dude. I stopped reading DT in the mid 1990s as both the story and artwork were deteriorating, but picked it up with the “Queenie” story a couple of years ago. Thanks for the info!
BTW…What the heck happened to Lizz? She’s lost the last letter to her name, her eyes are all funky, and she looks like she’s bought a sex-change from the discount store. And they seem to pussyfoot around using her last name, although she has three of them.
A touching family reunion? This isn’t why I read Locher’s DT. Without the madness, it’s just a poorly drawn strip that tries to pretend it’s a well drawn strip. Luckily, we’re headed to the circus (as the foreshadowing told us six days ago), so soon we’ll be back to less inanity, more insanity.
Yes, Sydney, DT and GA are two of the comics/comments I read every day and I have noticed that Deborah does not comprehend brevity. I find her posts interesting most of the time, but I do not believe the line between comment and ramble is all that thin.
I don’t recall who made the remark, but recently someone noted that the folks at Gasoline Alley draw a good DT. I remember when many of the comics were celebrating the 75th anniversary of our hero, GA did a whole arc with Tracy investigating a truck accident that turned to be no accident at all. It was really quite entertaining, at least as I recall, and the character actually looked like the Dick Tracy we all love. Jim is quite an awesome artist. I do wonder what it would take to recruit him. Just a thought (or should I say dream) And since I haven’t heard this in a while, I’ll throw one out there…………..Sigh………………………
If you read my post on the Annie board today you will see where I’m advocating that as Locher retires Jay Maeder takes over the writing. He knows the real Dick Travcy better than most and wrote the Official Dick Tracy Biography. And that the art should be done by Jim Scancarelli. He draws Dick Tracy and the supporting cast lots better than Dick Locher and new man Jim B.
Scancarelli has done Dick Tracy Cover art for the Dick Tracy Magazine (# 38). You see that and you”ll wonder why this hasn’t happened a long time ago

I’d rather spend a day at the races or a night at the opera. Perhaps Boston Brand will be performing or even the “Flying Graysons”.

Today’s art looks almost as if DL had returned. If it is Brozman, I just wish he would stay consistant with his character designs.
It’s seems that’s all I ever preach about is consistancy!

Panel 1: Is Bonnie reaching out to shake Tess’ hand?
Panel 3: The company that prints the circus’ tickets really needs to invest in a new paper cutter. They’re not exactly getting a clean edge.

Um, Bonnie…didn’t you get a ticket for your brother Joseph? By the way, where IS Joseph?

DT will come upon another crime at the circus. Which will leed to another story. And isn’t DT suppose to about crime.

How old is Bonnie Braids now, anyway? And didn’t the Tracys also have a younger son? And why are they passes and not tickets?

Bonnie Braids. How old ?
It’s changed so many times. It’s fluid depending on the needs of the Author. She could be a “stand-in for … “I’m my own Grandma”.
