Well it is about time. Now perhaps they can secure the crime scene and interview witnesses (if any are still around). Has Tracy even bothered to impound the clowns gun (not him, the other one)?
When the real police arrive will they take over and send Tracy home? Or will they humor the old brain-damaged ex-detective for old times sake, let him hang around as they investigate, even pretend he’s still in charge?
The ringmaster’s whip is evidently frozen. It got wet somehow or other, and then it got left in with the frozen fish long enough to freeze in the position it happened to be in.
Normally I would say it’ll thaw out soon, but with the pace we’ve been going at … even a few minutes could take days and days….
No ! It’s Locher’s “COMMUNICATIONS” expert Lt.Teevo brought in to find out what Ringo meant by “It happened”.
Tracy has been trying for over a week now without any sign of success and readers are fed up with this obvious, nonsensical “stalling line” while the Writer has spent all that time trying to “figure out” what to do NEXT.
And he wonders why readers say his “pacing” is miserably SLOW, while his tiny clique of supporters have yet another bleeep … and in unison with Matty, all “SIGH”, do an Obama bow, and in cult style, hail him a “genius” !
But look to see Teevo’s mature gray hair, new chin line (like Tracy’s). Gone is the old split jaw and the Nixon-esgue appearance. This will be the THIRD version used for him by Locher.
But he won’t be pictured again in this story. He’s really put there just to signal to supportes that Sam Catchem has been sidelined for good ! As another well loved, Gould created character, bites the dust.
Sad thing, the Editors of TMS haven’t even caught on to this sly “funeral announcement” yet !
Okay, the art is a little better today…no irrelevant long-distance shots, or cheaty shadowed figures. Ringo is looking more interesting (though as a general rule, it’s better to finalize a character’s design BEFORE you send the art to the printer). The story even feels like it might finally be moving forward…fingers crossed.
Hey does anybody know who is in charge of this feature? I mean, does Locher have an editor? I still cannot figure out why they would let this property go fallow as it has.
I have to assume with “fingers crossed”, that’s why we don;t see Sam. He’s OUT working on that case ! But he can’t find any clues. Locher made sure he didn’t leave HIS finger prints on that one
Who knows … he might have a library card, or a supermarket spyware card, or a scrap of paper he found in the gutter. If we see him try to buy something with it, that might give us a clue whether he really has a credit card or not.
It’s all very existential. What is real? What is not? How can we tell? This comic strip is really quite avant-garde.

Gosh, even Tracy noticed that Ringo has been repeating himself.

Nothing says ‘change this character’s design entirely’ like taking off a hat, I always say!
What we don’t see in Panel 3 (because it’s just below the border) is the gun Tracy is menacing Ringo with.

Decent artwork today. It’s enough for me, I’m happy.
Also some progress. Now some police arrived. One step every day.

I had to Wiki ‘happenstance’ just to make sure there is such a word! Soooo….. Dick Locher is one up on me today!

I had told Louise time after time that she could not keep dodging the bullet. She was very skilled, but I knew this would happen some day.

Wow! Ringo looks completely different today in the second panel. Consistency is still not a strong point for these guys.
That’s one strange whip Ringo is holding.

“Police are here, Ringo.” And then, “All 15 of them in a Mini Cooper and they are parked in the center ring.”

How doe’s Ringo already know it’s a homicide?? I thought that usually requires some time to determine that.
Dick should tell Ringo to jump on the the Michael Jackson case so we can put an end to that show too.

Two days ago, Ringo was standing in the exact position as panel one today, but his pants were white. Today they’re black.
Sheez.
(Bonus observation: the ponytail-less hair peeking out from under his hat two days ago was black. Now it’s white.)

Otherwise, there may be an arrest in Naperville !

Trust me Hipster, you don’t want to see Junior these days. He doesn’t look anything like himself since Locher took over.
