Reminds me of the time I saw a homeless guy shivering in winter with gaping holes in his clothes. I took him to Bradlees and bought him some sturdy jeans, flannel shirt, socks, coat, etc. On the way to the homeless shelter, without thinking I said, “so now you can get a shower at the shelter and find a job…” He got a horrified look and took off - without the new clothes.
I say “without thinking” because earlier he had mentioned a fear of being indoors (and had been very uncomfortable in the store). But still, there ought to be forest ranger jobs or something.
