My former employer of 33 years tried to make that transition. Their stock that used to sell at 49 DOLLARS recently closed at 49 CENTS.
The idea of a service economy is a myth. As someone put it, you can’t have an economy with everyone just selling insurance to each other. SOMEONE has to manufacture SOMETHING, and it shouldn’t be in countries that don’t like us.
