May 17, 2002Our story so far –Warbucks has left Amelia Santiago in charge of Annie, while he is off to fight terrorism. Santiago receives a strange phone call meant for someone else which instructs her to pick up a package at the Three Sisters Bookshoppe, run by the Sunshine sisters: Flora, Fauna and Rainbow, who are involved in an anti-American conspiracy. Santiago and Annie pick up the package, which is a collection of phony pilot’s licenses, together with names and addresses and turn it over to the FBI. A man wearing a turban, by the name of Jubal, visits the book store and threatens Rainbow.
May 17, 2002Panel 1 – The FBI runs it down.Dark haired agent: “Fingerprints off the package?”Blond agent: “Yeah! You know who belongs to them?”Panel 2 – Blond agent: “Rainbow Sunshine! Ha! This woman is Bonnie Lou Beauliew!”Dark haired agent: “What? The fugitive student radical from years ago? The armored-car bomber?”Panel 3 – (A hand hangs a sign on a door which says, “Closed.” The sign above the door says, “Three Sisters Bookshoppe.”) Voice 1 – “Forgiveness? No, Rainbow! Not this time!”Voice 2 – “No, Jubal! Please don’t! No, no, no!”
I came up with a theory. The final Annie strip ran on June 13, 2010, a Sunday. It may be that GoComics intends to keep that strip up for exactly one year. That would mean that June 12 of this year may be the last day for that final strip to appear. Then on the next day, Monday, June 13 (exactly one year after the final strip) a new story will start. And what better story to start on that Monday, than the very first Leonard Starr story, which actually did begin on a Monday, December 3, 1979! That way there will be no trouble syncing the daily and Sunday strips. Keep your fingers crossed for Monday, June 13!
Just stopping by to offer support for your vigil. davidf42: Have you asked GoComics tech support what’s going on? (I did this once, about a different matter; I found contact info. at the bottom of the home page).
The Big Top strip is kaput as in you can’t get on, but the artist, Rob Harrell has said it is an issue on Gocomics’ end, so maybe this is the same type situation.
