One thing about Maeder’s stories – unlike Harold Gray, who just said that Oliver was dealing with business in the far east, or wherever, Maeder shows us what Oliver is actually doing. I like this new aspect to the Annie stories.
Come to think of it, Oliver spent most of his time MIA in the Harold Gray era. Even if he was just at home doing business, the focus was almost entirely on Annie.
When did Asp start calling Oliver “Warbucks” – my memory of him is that he always called him “Sahib”. I just looked – in his very first appearance, he called Oliver “Master.” Later, when together with Punjab, I think the “Sahib” name was used. But, he never called him by his last name – that just doesn’t fit his character, as Harold Gray conceived of him. He was a faithful and dangerous servant, and also true friend.

I wonder what Warbucks has in mind. This should be interesting.
