These strips hit home because I think just about all of us have had a pet at some time, and all who have know the pain of having to say good bye to someone who is so loyal, so loving, and so much a part of the family.Parting is all we know of Heaven, and all we need of Hell.
my 13 y/o cat was mauled by a dog or coyote & i buried him in the side yard with a rose bush, so i visit with him almost every day. it’s been 9 years, but this lil animal was my best friend! my child! you never really get over that kind of loss…
The Bob strip this week has been cathartic for all of us who have lost beloved pets. It has allowed us to remember and to join in shared grief. This is what it means to be human. We love, we lose, we grieve, and we love again. Thank you for sharing your family’s experience with us Frank. Bless you all.
I keep a photo of my beloved Australian Shepherd who passed two years ago this month. Although I have two new guys who I love dearly I still have a spot in my heart for Fuego. I understand your grief, thank you for sharing with us, and wish you peace.
She says, “I didn’t think this house could feel so empty”. Neither did I. But it did, and I’m sure it will again, sadly. But that’s part of the price you pay for that unconditional love.
I’m Lady’s brother’s (Quentin’s) mom. So, so sorry that Lady has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I know that Lady and Quentin are having a good time playing wherever they are.
I too planted a rose bush in my dog’s memory…it started to bloom today. The flowers are beautiful, but so sad to look at. Here’s to those who bless us with their unconditional love and companionship. What a happy time it will be when we are able to be with them again.
I’ve never posted to this site, but this series really touched me…especially since we just lost our Nitro to brain cancer just 2 months ago. My condolences, and thank you for the brilliant handling of this strip.

To show how much I loved my dogs, I chose my gocomics name to honor two of them.

Pets are more than pets… they’re friends and it hurts when they pass away. Remember the good times.
