If they had garbage trucks then this wouldnt be Gasoline Alley. Defective or not Joel and Rufus are part of the package. Rufus always makes me think of my father in law, from eastern Kentucky. He’s a smart man, well educated and with a load of common sense. And yet he puts on this yokel act when he think people consider him ignorant when they learn he’s from Kentucky. I’ve heard him tell of plenty of ‘im-poh-tent’ people he’s met over the years.
A man went to a church in a rural community because he noticed that the pastor was listed as Joe Smith, B.S., M.S., Ph.D. The sermon was very good, but the man couldn’t help noticing that the pastor truly did not sound very educated.
After the service he shook the pastor’s hand and asked: “Reverend, I notice you have a lot of letters after your name. What do they all mean?”
The reverend replied. “Well, son. You know what B.S. stands for. M.S. is more of the same and Ph.D. is piled higher and deeper.
I’ve met Ph.D’s that are just fine, and a few I wouldn’t trust to empty the proverbial boot-full of urine. And worked with engineers we wouldn’t let near a tool, ‘cause we already gave blood that month. Sometimes it’s “All G-2, and no Gee-Whiz!”
