I must agree with the Captain. Peacegood should be all muddy, like a homeless person, and suffer the judgments that come with that condition.
Funny, when I typed in this URL my computer came up with one five weeks ago where Slim was just meeting Upton. And I thought WOW, it took five weeks to get here?
Not necessarily Catholic Ravenswing; this type of robe/collar is also used by Lutherans and the various stripes of Anglicans (such as Episcopal, CSI, …).
Shoot, I even know United Methodists who dress like that. The collar opens some secular doors that wouldn’t be so readily available in some situations. It closes others.
I think it was all a plot! This is what God had in mind from the beginning. Send the Rev. on vacation, have something happen to both Upton’s car and the Peacegoods and then, this was His master stroke, put Slim in charge of meeting the replacement. God does move in mysterious ways. All to bring Upton back to the side of righteousness!
Yes…he’s a “substitute” remember? And nobody there has met him…which is why they accepted Upton without question. Does anyone else think the good Reverend looks a bit like Skeezix in the second panel?
I agree with Dypak–as I am one to whom God reached thrice, each time more deeply (first time through a white-Canuck colleague, second through a Mumbai-born Indian Protestant, third time through a Tamil Protestant from Thiruvallikeni neighbourhood of my native city Chennai)!

It’s funny how when most Americans consider others Christians they only think of other much like themselves. Very few Americans ever consider the 100’s of 1000’s of non-Anglo Christians throughout the world. Before the US started the Iraq war there was actually a somewhat large minority of Iraqi Christians living there. Now there are very few. African countries, such as Egypt and Niger have large communities of Koptic Christians, a Christian faith as old or older than the Catholic Church. Not to mention the Greek and Russian Orthodox Churches.
One of the best features of the internet is being able to meet people outside of our own small communities. I’m not sure where you live now a days, prasrinivara, but I’m glad you’re here to help enrich us.
Maybe not switched, rather merged, with each taking on some of the qualities of the other. Like in Young Frankenstein, or the Johnny Cash song, Chicken in Black.

OK, now the story arc is turning into a soap opera.

Perhaps he had the good grace to bathe and change his clothes.

Yeah, I was thinking just that. What, does every reverend go driving around in Roman Catholic clericals?

Great body language on the Reverend!

But who stole Upton’s car?

Is this still the 11:00 service ? He must think there’s hearing impaired people in the congregation .

Oh please don’t ground the comic strip in reality. We have enough reality as it is.

…maybe somehow during the electrical storm, the souls of Upton and Warren got switched!

I was trying to find a scientific explanation for what otherwise seems supernatural.
Durak Premium Member over 15 years ago
Axe, science can’t even prove the existance of the soul, much less switch them yet. I think we’ll have to be satisfied with the supernatural.
