The signatures on the credit card receipts leading to the bill were Reagan/Bush/Bush Jr.

Wow, Bob Gorrell really is in a state of denial about the GOP, isn’t he? The Democrats didn’t start TWO senseless, expensive wars AND cut taxes at the same time.

“It’s for our children!”That’s why we can’t raise taxes or cut military spending.

^No. No increase in the Debt limit until revenues are RAISED to generate it. I refuse to accept this endless death-spiral of “must cut taxes” leading inevitably to “those wastrels! We have to cut spending.” We have this government for a purpose, one of which is to provide services that are more efficient administered centrally. We’d save massive amounts on healthcare as individuals if we only extended Medicare to everyone.

Amazing. Same old myopic comments from the liberals — blame the Republicans for the deficit. Remember, the Democrats controlled the House during all 8 years of the Reagan Administration, and Bush never had a solid Republican majority at any time during his Administration. In fact, the Democrats controlled Congress the last 2 years under Bush, and the deficit increased.

The current budget problems are caused by bipartisan reckless spending and can be solved only by budget cuts.

It’s in that alternate universe where Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11 and cutting taxes brings in more revenue….

For the past year at least, every defense of Obama I’ve seen has consisted of attacking George Bush. Okay, so W was an incompetent president, but to not the slightest degree does that mean that Obama is not just as bad or worse. Yet, that’s the solitary way O’s fans have of defending him. O could try to undo W, but far from trying, he merely imitates him.

You leftist dolts pretend that you’ve escaped Bush, but now you’re supporting his clone. (Gee, that almost came out “clown;” strange coinicidence).

@AuH2O – Every person running for president places blame (or credit) for the budget on their predecessor. Presidents submit the budget. When, in 20 years of Republican presidents since 1980, did a Republican president ever present a balanced budget. Wasn’t it Reagan and (baby) Bush (authors of borrow and spend) who gave us the ludicrous tax cuts that have been so destructive to our budget and economy?I willingly fault spineless congressmen of both parties who participated in the senseless tax cuts, but blame lies at the feet of the presidents who propsed them.

Nonsense, agent, you haven’t been reading the posters. A lot of us are angry that Obama has continued Bush policies degrading civil liberties despite running on EXACTLY the platform to change that. I knew he was a business-friendly centrist (like Clinton) rather than a left-wing socialist Marxist revolutionarey, unlike all the whack-jobs on the right, but he has moved farther right since taking office. And I am not amused.

bin Laden might say that Obama letting “troops” actually do there thing instead of bombing the wrong country might be progress, except, well, he can’t speak to the issue. Employment figures are still bad, but improving. Nations around the world actually want to talk to us, well except for a certain son of Polish emigres who studied in the U.S., and won’t negotiate on the ONE truly key issue in “his” country.

I don’t like Obama cutting so much slack to try to win over any Republican support, on ANY issue either, but when the media criticize vehemently ANYTHING he does, he’s finally starting to step up regardless – so we shall see.
