Flo: Did you really blow yawr life savin's because you thought the wahld was gonna end? Captain Eddie: No... I invested it as a hedge against the possibility that it could happen... it seemed like a good idea at the time. But the good news is, it's a roll-ovah fund, so I've still got a shot at cashin' in. Flo: Uh... how's that?

He can always tell her father to make her give the money back.

I think someone said it yesterday, if the world does end what exactly does he “cash in”? Lose-lose situation, unless you are Danae.
yumitori over 13 years ago
So, wait. He gets a payout only if the world ends? What did he expect he’d do with his sudden wealth then?Ah, nevermind. It’s Capt’n Eddie.

Well, he got rolled anyway….

There’s a sucker born every minute and 2 to carry him out.

Danae is doing Eddie a favor by taking the money he’s too stupid to handle wisely. Right?

Hopefully after this whole mess blows over, Dad will make Danae give it back. Eddie may be lame, but he is her grandfather.

Now hoarding gold coins and bars. That way in a postapocalyptic/ raptured world. “I’ll be rich, rich I tell ya”!
CedarCircle over 13 years ago
For the last time, the rapture happened on schedule May 21. If you’re still here, then you weren’t called and are damned to hell for all eternity. Get over it.
ladamson1918 over 13 years ago
CedarCircle—you’re still here. Are you over it?

Get your terms straight, people. The Rapture is NOT the “end of the world”. In fact, the Bible says quite clearly that the world will NEVER “end”. If you’re going to discuss (or mock) a Biblical concept, you should at least read the source material first so you’ll understand what you’re discussing (or mocking)! (Whether or not you believe it is another matter entirely…)

Y’know, policies can be cancelled by the insured and all unearned premium must be returned (yes I am in the industry – pity me!)

I don’t need afterlife insurance because I’ll have thousands (72? Bah!) of sweet young angles taking care of my every wish.

Read it again, Destiny 23, you won’t find that word in the text. Another attempt by man to tell God how it’s going to be.
dflak over 13 years ago
@Destiny23 – as REM said, “It’s the end of the world as we know it.”

As for those persons who quote the Bible as stating that "the world does not end, that it will NEVER end, great. But, the Bible also states that no mortal man or woman will ever be capable of predicting when the ‘Rapture’ will take place. And yes, the world herself won’t end, only the human race will. Mother earth will one day reclaim herself, and thank God for that!

Note: Many claim God is cruel fro demanding stoning of various individuals, but this is the perfect case. If the false prophet had been stoned to death in the 1990’s when he first pulled this, it wouldn’t happen again. This is how the JW’s got started.

Just another hedge fund. Denae takes the bet.

Now all the cynics have a nice case for the notion that all Christians are either con men or marks. Most of you don’t seem to realize the Mahers and Wiley’s are equally con men for another philosophy, it’s just one you agree with. I have a hard time with folks like Destiny who do the same thing as our radio Rez false prophet and stop reading the Bible when they choose to. Destiny: The Bible says the World ends in Fire (Peter)and is returned in a pure state(Rev), Actually the close to the same thing Science says concerning the Earth’s end.

Am I misremembering, or was it once mentioned that Cap’n Eddie and Flo had a passing fling at Woodstock, when they were both young and wild? That would make it at least possible that he is Danae’s gramps.
josejimenez over 13 years ago
This may all be moot soon. It looks like the religious grifter that started all this may be getting his own solo rapture soon. At least he hopes that’s the way he will go.

So young, and already aware the world is full of gullible idiots.

Destiny, while the Earth may continue, the souls of all the good little boys and girls are supposed to go to Heaven at the Rapture. The world may not end but their personal time on it will, at least according to the ‘source material’.And since there’s some distinct theological errors in their beliefs, perhaps there would be less ‘mocking’ of the Rapture followers if they were to read the ‘source material’ more closely.

As I recall the Book of Revelations, the Rapture is pretty much final Judgment. The Saved go up to Heaven and the world gets supernaturally totalled (I need to check if my insurance policy pays off on Acts of God.)
Rapture insurance would pay off to the people who have to stick around, assuming that money would have any value.
Of course, I just now realized the big question is how much was Captain Eddy’s life savings in the first place?

Emily Latilla: What’s all this talk about ruptures? I’m told they hurt. Everybody in the world is going to get a rupture on the same day?……..that’ll keep the doctors busy…

Turn it into a scuba attraction. Outfit it to be an artificial reef and raise tropical fish and tourists.

My dears…it’s the Book of Revelation, not Revelations.
