Doc: Come now, E.B.! It's time for us to venture out and continue our study of early 21st Century society... EB3: Aww. Can't we just stay in and do our research online? Doc: I'm afraid not... to truly understand a people and culture, we must walk among them! Document their daily routines and observe them in direct face-toface-interactions.

Wickedly good observation of smartphone addiction! In fact, I rather chuckled at how the hippy guy is so oblivious that he’s walking right out of panel 3 and into the interpanel where Doc gives his cultural anthropology exposition.

Oh, way too true! We used to criticise the kids for this sort of behaviour, but you see tradespeople at train stations looking at their devices. I really wonder if this is a temporary trend or something long term.

The saddest sight is when you see a couple walking along together—each one engrossed in their electronic device instead of each other!

Yesterday’s ‘toon is my new GPS’s major “function”. My old one gave me coordinates to find myself on a paper map- “new and improved” just has more bells and whistles to sound false alarms.
