Gil is really letting Hobart have it. Like all moralists, Hobart has a few skeletons in the closet. At times like this, you see why this comic is so highly-regarded.
That comment by Gil in P2 really stung Hobart . . . his right eye must have exploded.
What would top off this storyline would be for Hobart to go postal in the meeting and start shooting up the place. Gil ends up turning Hobart’s gun on him and ending the “Milford Masacre”. Due to hereosim, teacher salaries see a 10% bump, and will never be disputed again.
It’s almost July . . . when do we get to see Mimi showing off that sick a$$ body in a bikini on the back deck of Chateau Thorp?
Although Hobart is a duchebag, there is little excuse for the continuing ignorance between public employees and their institutions and private employers. First, not everyone in the private sector is driving a super luxurious car such a Buick or a Tucker. Second, one of the traditionally great benefits for working in the public sector wa the fact that although generally your salary was not going to be as high as the private sector, you would enjoy greater pensions and job security. In recent years, public employees salaries have actually increased and have surpassed private sector. Private sector companies have continued to evolve in trying to compete in the world economy. Defined benefit pensions are replaced by either defined contribution or just boosted 401Ks. Yet, the public sector continues to enjoy greater benefits with the increased compensation. Hobarts outrage at this is somewhat justified, although he is the worst vessel for this as the writers have made him into a stalking, bitter, high-on-the-hog jerk.
So Gil saves the day, then later this week there will be some casual one panel reference to how the last half of baseball and softball seasons ended without us witnessing anything.
Uncle Kaz, In defense of Gil, Mimi, Kaz, and Al-Jo’s mom, a recent study showed that based on their education requiremements and requirements for keeping their liscense (continuing ed courses), school teachers (among other public employees) are decidedly lower paid than their private sector counterparts.
Gil is sporting a 1980’s Don Johnson Miami Vice look of t-shirt under suit coat. It must be summer in Milford though were not sure because we do not know what sports season it is!

Gil the LOSER! First confront Hobart one on one, then if he denies slandering you, bring a couple witnesses, finally use a public gathering.
