Forgive me for the off topic, but could someone explain the mystery of Motley to me?? The comic doesn’t appear in the comics listing, neither shows up if searched, but it exists, if you type the direct URL (see http://www.gocomics.com/motley-classics), neither is it possible to add it to “My Comics Page”. I asked mutiple times to the support, but always with no answer. Has somebody else noticed this? Thank you.
@Alain Harper,If there are 50 questions, even the right answer is worth only two points. Clever should count for something, though.Hobbes might be a stuffed tiger, but sometimes he needs more gray matter between his ears!
In the same vein, if Sonny is pro Bono, did he lose HIS amateur status?Speaking of varicose veins, since Carly Simon is much older now, perhaps her song title should be changed to “You’re So Vein!” Back to Sonny (and Cher) …and the beat goes on! and the beat goes on!
<< Yesterday, sallymargaret wrote: “Hobbes—how do you put a cartoon in your post?” >>
Hi sallymargaret. Here is how I do it. Maybe Mister Ed or someone else knows an easier way.
To insert a picture:
Use the following expression, but type a < right in front of it and a > immediately after it, and substitute the picture’s URL for the letters URL inside the quotes:
img src=“URL”/
Note: To locate the URL of a picture, right click on it and check the Properties. The URL can be quite long in some cases, so you need to use Copy and Paste.
Note: The picture may or may not display properly if you create your posting in a word processor document and then paste it into GoComics. So it’s best to create your posting right in the GoComics comment window. Or create it using WordPad and then paste it in.
By the way:
To insert a blank line:
Type < and then br and then > with no spaces between them.
To insert a horizontal line:
Type < and then hr and then > with no spaces between them.
Hobbes is an amateur comic: he does it for love of the quip. Calvin is a pro—but he never gets to see his payback. Except when Hobbes gives it to him, or Susy hits him with a snowball, water balloon, etc.
I was referring to yesterday’s reality check also. You can’t please all of the people all of the time, and different people have very different reasons for posting what they do on this site. Negative comments only encourage me to post a larger quantity of positive comments, like I did today.
I have wondered if Calvin’s parents and teachers have considered sending him to a special school. Just exactly what sort of school is beyond me at the moment….

Considering it came from a stuffed tiger, I’d give two points.

Stuffed tigers may not always have the correct answer, but the answer is almost always clever.

It’s worth a shot. You certainly won’t get one for being correct.

If Calvin gets 1 point for “originality” then Hobbes deserves 2 points for coming up with it originally!

On a related note, here’s a saying I’ve always liked:
“Adjectives and adverbs are the leeches of language, sucking the life from nouns and verbs.”
