    Honeymoon’s a charmer, with her obvious hero-worship of Pop Pop! And I’ll bet she’ll have great fun making over her Dad (although Junior doesn’t look too thrilled at the idea)!

    I am likin’ what these guys are doing with this comic strip. Funny to remember it wasn’t that long ago that looking at Dick Tracy was just an exercise in being annoyed.

    True…comic strip art, and Staton is being true to Gould’s characters! I look forward to each new day, to follow this strip, just like I did when I was a young boy!

    Love the way Junior is drawn in the third panel today, he looks much closer to what his age should be, while still looking like Junior. Mr. Staton just keeps delivering the goods when it comes to Tracy art. Amazing. Just amazing.

    @BillThompson

    OK, I see what you are driving at. I guess I didn’t get it at first, because that question…well, to be honest, it never even thought to cross my mind. I guess I would say that the point of why they’re investigating this particular way was sort of addressed today. I can’t say it really bothers me…the flow of the story right now feels very naturalistic, and it feels very much like some of those Junior Tracy sequences I mentioned yesterday, so…shrug You’re not wrong, but it’s sort of a nitpick I feel. Of course, it is a lot better to only have these nitpicks to complain about than the more genuine complaints of previous years, and at least it gives us something to discuss.

    @Quantumtorpedo1 First off, love the Astro Boy avatar. Osamu Tezuka is often called the God of Manga, and for very good reason. Barney seen yesterday is Barney Dhatkham, the owner of Bedrock PC, and a dealer in bootleg and pirated DVDs. He’s also an informer for Sam Catchem, and has an obsession with the Flintstones. He showed up briefly in the first story from Curtis and Staton, providing information on Ed Garcia. One thing that I think Mr. Curtis is doing very well is using little seeds from previous stories and building on them. It’s a technique that even Kilian used with some success, and particularly useful when you have restrictions on how long your stories can be.

    I only have one comment on the new strip and that is that we don’t see the same panel 200 times. Thank God!!!

    This strip is evolving at a mind boggling rate compared to what we were use to. Next week the fulfillment of one of their promises.

    I love Tracy’s “Sam what’s wrong with you” expression, in panel two..@NightShade09,As per your comment yesterday, “TV viewers accept the science fiction crime labs in the CSI shows and Bones because the speed up the storytelling (computers can’t magically match fingerprints and spew out the suspects name, address and photo).”.If I had a dollar for every time I had to explain, that’s just on TV. Well, I’d retire really early.

    It’s about time Junior got a makeover. He had that unrul shock of hair since the 1930’s.

    Well, Honeymoon was very active in her own CRIMESTOPPERS group during a Collins/Locher story a while back. She’s just grown up around it her whole life.

    Chester Gould’s “Dick Tracy” was one of my favorite continuity strips when I was growing up. Although it had strong plotlines, the fantasy and humor leavened it and gave it a strong appeal to me when I was just learning to read in the late 50s and early 60s in New York, where I read it in the Daily News and in tab format in the Sunday News. For a while I even kept them in a scrapbook which is now long gone. Sigh. I’m so glad after a half-century I can revisit some old friends (“Gasoline Alley” is another favorite. It was unusual because the characters aged.)
