Rat: Hi, Goat, an I interest you in our new product? It's bottled water. See, it's got a beautiful mountain spring on the label. I even gave it a fancy French-sounding name: 'le Lavabo.' Goat: 'Le Lavabo' means 'bathroom sink'! Rat: Nuts. I've given away my secret source. Goat: Go away. Pig: If it makes you feel better, some of it comes from our tub.

Maybe if Rat’s lucky most of his customers won’t speak French.

Well, what can I say? —At least the partners are neatly groomed with their bow-ties, red for Rat and yellow for Pig (tell me those colors don’t have meaning!). But I won’t be among the sucker…err, customers for their “product”!

It’s a hard time to float a new business, even with Rat’s deviousness on tap. I’m sure he expects to soon be flush with success, but I’m thinking his fortunes will sink. Well, well, well.

Pig, of course, is perpetually wet behind the ears. Hope he hasn’t invested in this scheme. I’d hate to see him take a bath.

I don’t think I’ll be running to the store to buy some.

He needs to open a booth offering free crackers or pretzels with extra salt. And then sell the water.

The water distributed by a certain Cola company is useless for making tea.The teabag just sits ther and the water doesn’t turn tea colored.Don’t know why.

If I was ever going to buy bottled water I’d get Rat-Water before I let one cent go to France. It’s obscene how they rake in $Billions selling their tap water in North America!

Rat shouldn’t try to sell “Le Lavabo” to someone as educated as Goat.
mac47 over 13 years ago
Pastis must’ve been on Google Translate. “LeLavabo” does mean “the bathroom sink” in French. By the way, “the bathtub” in French is “LaBaignoire.” (I’ve been on Google Translate too.)

Based on past experience, I predict that Rat’s whole business will soon go down the drain. Just as well since, with his management skills, he’d just p!ss away all the profits anyway.

Good one Digital Frog! And thank you, T. Mechanic — glad to see your posts too. The closest thing to a “suggestion box” (AFAIK) is the “Contact Us” link in the right-hand column at the bottom of every page.GoComics just absorbed about 150 comics and 100’s or even thousands of registered users (I’m sure it’s many more than the small percentage who post.)
They’re still building archives, revamping the systems for e-mail and strip coloring, etc, so the contact page warns that replies will take a bit longer right now.

@ susansunshine said, 1 day ago“. . . [Gallons of drinking water are] 89 cents to $1 a gallon. Please — where can I find some of this gasoline that costs less?”.You need to buy your water in 20 oz. bottles at $0.75 – 1.00 each. Then a gallon will be $4.80 to 6.40..+++++.Rat will soon find the source of his business difficulties. I don’t think changing the name will filter out any of the problems. Unless he lives in the right spot, he’ll find he’s in a bad odor with the customers.

Why would Goat tell Rat to go away? Judging by Rat’s water bottles around the table, it appears Goat came over to that spot, not Rat.

Le lavabo means “the washbasins” in Italian and “the sink” in French
