Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for March 21, 1987
Transcript:
Calvin: It took hundreds of years for these woods to grow, and they leveled it in a week. It's gone. After they build the new houses, here, they'll have to widen the roads and put up gas stations, and pretty soon this whole are will just be a big strip. Eventually there won't be a nice spot left anywhere. I wonder if you can refuse to inherit the world. Hobbes: I think if you're born, it's too late.

What wise words, Calvin. If you can see today’s world, you’d me more worried.

I really hate watching urban sprawl happen, too.

What I hate most is that we’re doing things that are so wrong and everyone’s aware, but they’re not trying.

I remember reading this comic, and a big tree clearing was going on. Bill Watterson might have gotten the arc idea from it. Me, loving nature, I almost cried.

It’s a concern i come back to frequently.. At the very least human birthing rates have been going down.. So hopefully the destruction of nature will slow a little.
