Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for April 24, 1988
Transcript:
Calvin as a pilot: A voice cackles in Calvin's radio. "Enemy fighters at two o'clock!" Roger, what should I do until then? Calvin's F-4 Phanton screams across the sky! But what's this? The canopy glass is all smeared! He can hardly see through it! Oh, no! The throttle shaps off in his hand! Calvin's only hope is to land, but the wheels refuse to open! They're stuck! Frantically Calvin trieds to eject, but the cockpit is fused together! His jet is a hopeless mess! Everything is going wrong! Stupid model.

Quoting Bill Watterson from the Tenth Anniversary Book:“Several years ago, on a whim, I bought a model airplane and built it. It’s as frustrating now as when I was a kid. I got a few strips out of it, though. In this one, I like the second panel “throwaway joke” more than the rest of the strip."

I knew this wouldn’t go well… I guess the blame will go on the instructions again then.
