my guess is that Edgar Rice is getting a little long in the tooth for the daily comic grind. it wouldn’t surprise me that he has assistants do most of the work

“Pteranodons, monsters that time has forgotten…” Time’s memory is notoriously poor. If I ever crossed paths with a pteranodon, you can bet that it would be a long time before I ever forgot the experience. Of course, I AM a lot more easily impressed than Time is.

And so Tarzan reveals yet another skill taught him by the Great Apes of Kerchak—VENTRILOQUISM [the ability to scream warnings at pterodactyls while clenching a knife in your teeth]!

It’s great to see Tarzan in a land that Burroughs never put him in [Caprona/Caspak—"The Land that Time Forgot"]. One of the best ideas ERB ever had was to send Tarzan to Pellucidar in one of the earliest literary cross-overs. “Tarzan at the Earth’s Core” was the 13th book of the Tarzan series and the 4th book of the Pellucidar series.

And speaking of crossovers—in the atrociously written [and unauthorized] “Tarzan on Mars,” John Bloodstone sends Tarzan to Barsoom. I wonder what Burroughs would have done with that cocept. While looking up that bit of info I found out that Gray Morrow had actually drawn such a Tarzan story [complete with John Carter, David Innes, white apes and thoats]. Maybe it’s already appeared here [have to look up the archives] or has yet to be shown. Either way, it looks like I’m in for a treat!
