Dad: They give us a chance to be together as a family and learn about ourselves. Calvin: Like how we can't stand baing in such close proximity with one another this long? Dad: Exactly.

We had things worked out pretty well on trips. One thing that helped: Mom and Dad agreed that eating should be healthy—but were not so doctrinaire on trips. Two weeks of middling-lousy food won’t kill a person, and it avoided plenty of arguments.
