Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for July 16, 1988
Transcript:
Dad: Calvin, I'd like you to pick up all the sticks and fallen branches in the yard, so I can mow it. Calvin: Will you pay me? Dad: Well...Ok, I'll pay you a dollar. Calvin: A dollar? I won't do it for less than twenty-five!! Dad: In a minute you'll do it for nothing just because I told you to. Calvin: ...I'll take the dollar. Dad: Smart kid.

I wasn’t allowed to do chores when I was six. I would beg my parents to let mop the floor or wash the dishes. But now, they make me do chores all the time. Usually, I just leave my plate in the sink when nobody’s looking or “forget” to fold the laundry. But I find raking leaves fun.
