When I earned $1.35 an hour and had to buy my own clothes, I learned to fold them and use a set of drawers. Bringing young ladies to my room taught me how to make a bed. As a child though my room cleaning graduated from closets to windows.

Only the lower half, of the room is messy. The upper half is just fine. Geez Mom, quit being so picky.

In our house it was either clean your room (don’t shove stuff in the closet or under the bed) or DAD would . . . with the garbage can.

My kids get 30 minutes to clean their room, including vacuuming. Then I come in with a large garbage bag and toss things. I think it took two times for them to get that I was dead serious. Now, less than 20 minutes is usually what it takes.

This doesn’t make sense. She’s saying it’s disgusting, not broken. Since it’s not broken, by his reasoning, he doesn’t have to fix it.
