Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for April 26, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: When is they dumb wedding going to be over?! I don't even know these people. This would be a lot more fun if Hobbes was here. I can't believe we left him at home. I hope he's Ok. What's he going to eat? We didn't leave any food out. And we'll be gone almost two whole days! Hobbes will be starving! I think I'll let Dad go in the house first.

Worthless?? They wouldn’t have the house if it weren’t for him.

I love how, in this strip, Calvin’s Dad has as much interest in the wedding as Calvin does. Which is to say, none at all. First yawning (and getting a dirty look from Mom) and then checking his watch while Mom’s crying.

I like how in 4 frames the mom went from “Oh my god I can’t believe my husband right now” to “OMG THIS IS SO BEEEAUUUTTTIIIIFUUULLLL”

Why is Calvin’s mother crying? Is it really a funeral, and did they just TELL Calvin it was a wedding to keep his innocence?
