Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for July 18, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: Look, Dad, there's a town coming up. See the sign? Why don't we pull off, find a nice motel and just stay there for our vacation? We could swim in the pool and have air conditioning and color cable TV and room service! No one would have to know we didn't camp! I wouldn't even tell anyone! We could even go to the store, but a big fish, take your picture with it, and say you caught it! Can't we, Dad? Can't we turn off here? Mom: Yes, let's! Dad: Now don't you start!

So, no one in the family wants to go camping except Dad, and yet…they are going camping. Maybe Mom should think about getting in on one of those election campaigns for a new Dad!

There’s a lot of character to be built on this trip. No time to waste.

It is hard to believe that Color Tv used to be a luxury.
